Black Walnut Burl Bottle Stopper

This bottle stopper was hand turned on the lathe from black walnut burl. The wood had small voids which were filled with a turquoise colored inlay material. It was then finished with a food safe finish then polished to a pleasing lustre.
The wooden top portion is fitted onto the bottom stainless steel stopper portion with a threaded metal fitting that allows it to be removed for cleaning without damaging the finished wood.

NOTE: With time and with use the finish on wooden items may become dry. You will know this has occurred when the wooden item looks or feels dry. If this occurs the item can be rubbed with walnut oil or salad oil - if it is to be used with food. If it is a decorative item, an application of a coat of good wax should help. If the wooden item becomes soiled, wipe it with a damp cloth and dry immediately. NEVER put a wooden item in a dishwasher. This would promptly ruin the item.
