Laminated Myrtlewood Bowl

This beautiful bowl was made from a round disc of myrtle wood which was cut into rings then laminated together and  turned on the lathe to form a bowl. It has a very remarkable grain pattern with spalting which adds character to the bowl. It has been finished with bees wax, carnauba wax, and mineral oil, a finish which makes it safe for use with food. This bowl would make a nice serving or salad bowl, but would also be useful for many things around the home.

NOTE: With time and with use the finish on wooden items may become dry. You will know this has occurred when the wooden item looks or feels dry. If this occurs the item can be rubbed with walnut oil or salad oil - if it is to be used with food. If it is a decorative item, an application of a coat of good wax should help. If the wooden item becomes soiled, wipe it with a damp cloth and dry immediately. NEVER put a wooden item in a dishwasher. This would promptly ruin the item.
